Wayne Rooney could make his United debut in the next seven days, according to Sir Alex Ferguson.
Fergie told ManUtd.com the teenager has worked hard at Carrington, saying: "He's available to play now.
"Obviously we have to assess when he plays. Fitness comes into it. But he's doing very well in training."
Rooney hasn't played since breaking a bone in his foot during England's Euro 2004 campaign in Portugal. However, the £27million signing is back in full training and Ferguson is waiting for the right time to hand him his debut.
The Reds boss confirmed later that Rooney will not be in his squad that travels to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham on Saturday.
Therefore, the 18-year-old is likely to make his first appearance for United on home turf. The Champions League clash with Fenerbahce at Old Trafford on Tuesday seems a likely date to pencil him in for his first appearance.
United then face Middlesbrough on the following Sunday in Manchester before a two-week international break.
Fergie also had some good news regarding another striker, Louis Saha, and defensive stalwart Gary Neville.
"I'll have Rooney, Neville and Saha available in the next seven days. I'm certain of that," he reported. "They all trained today [Friday]."

Arkadaşlar Rooney uzun süren sakatlık döneminden sonra bizim maç için hazırmış.Kaliteli bir topçu, umarım sonucu çok etkileyecek bir performans göstermez uzun süren futbol açlığının ardından.
